When Petroleum Marketers Association of America approached me to design a brand for independent gas station owners who were squeezed out by major brands, they faced a chicken and egg scenario. PMAA found it difficult to get a fuel supplier commitment without the owners signing on and there was nothing to attract the owners.

PMAA decided to create a look that would entice owners to sign on. It worked. Now there are over 170 Spirit stations across the country.
